Aaron's Answer…
Well Ocean, there are tons of different way to improve your body's fitness. It all depends on what you want. If you want to get stronger and put on muscle, weight training is probably your ticket. And if you want gain endurance, then you'll probably want to do more running.
But I like strength training, so lets look at that first!
There are tons of
strength and weight training benefits out there. I think that strength training is probably the best exercise, both because you gain so much (whether muscle, connective tissue strength, bone integrity, or simply muscular strength) and because it's so easy.
Just lifting weights twice a week has tons of benefits! You don't need to live at the gym - in fact, it's probably better if you don't. You need to get adequate rest to recover from all the exercise you do.
Also, it sounds like you're built pretty slight. More than running of other kinds of general fitness exercises, weight training can help you bulk up and add some muscle to you frame.
Doing 8 to 12 repetitions per set, and eating more, can help you add some decent muscle. And you can see results from just working out once or twice a week.
So, Simple Answer… I think weight training, or other kinds of strength training, is the gets way to improve general body fitness. There are so many benefits you get that don't come from running all the time, and it's easy to work into you schedule.
So try some weight training!
